How much does a luxury wedding in Portugal cost?

By Fuse Weddings · 9 October 2026 · 6 min

It is the first question almost every couple asks us, and one of the hardest to find a straight answer to online. Here is how we explain it in our first meeting.

The number that matters: cost per guest

The most useful way to think about a wedding budget in Portugal is the cost per guest. For a premium wedding, the total usually lands between €300 and €700 per guest, everything included: venue, catering, drinks, decoration, music, photography, planning and the many small things in between.

That means, as a guide:

  • 80 guests: €24,000 to €56,000
  • 120 guests: €36,000 to €84,000
  • 200 guests: €60,000 to €140,000

Where you fall in that range depends on three choices more than anything else: the venue, the menu and how much of the day is designed rather than simply booked.

Where the budget goes

Every wedding is different, but in our experience the money tends to split like this:

  • Venue and catering: around half of the total. In Portugal they are often sold together, which makes the choice of venue the biggest decision of all.
  • Design, florals and rental: 15 to 20%. Tables, linen, chairs, flowers, candles and lighting. This is what makes a wedding look like yours.
  • Photography and film: 8 to 12%.
  • Music and entertainment: 5 to 10%. DJ, sound and light, live musicians, special moments.
  • Planning and coordination: 5 to 10%.
  • Everything else: attire, rings, stationery, transport, guest welcome and the small surprises.

What changes the price the most

The date. Saturdays from May to October are the most requested. A Friday or a date in April or late October can open better venues for the same budget.

The venue model. Some quintas include catering and a fixed setup. Others are a blank canvas where everything is brought in. The second gives more freedom and usually costs more.

The guest count. Every extra guest adds to catering, rental, stationery and staff. Cutting twenty guests often frees more budget than any other decision.

The number of suppliers. Working with one team for planning, design, music and stationery avoids duplicated fees, misaligned timings and a lot of stress.

What a wedding planner costs

At Fuse, full planning and art direction starts at €6,000 + VAT, with music and entertainment quoted separately. A good planner should save you more than that in negotiated prices, avoided mistakes and time.

How to start

Begin with a realistic per guest number, then choose the venue. Everything else follows. If you want, send us your date and guest count and we will tell you, honestly, what is possible.
